Your Feet Don't Touch The Ground

Remember back when I met you

I was a big city boy

With the small town blues

This place seemed so small to me

I was used to the Boulevard

When I saw you, I fell so hard

Now I never want to leave

Yeah, I could stay forever

We've got moon light

All night

Lord I pray on the next star I see tonight

We never lose this thing we've found

With you by my side

I can do without the city lights

I fly so high when you're around

That my feet don't touch the ground

Things I've done and the places I've been

Just dont compare to the love I'm in

It beats all I've ever seen

If you'd a told me a few years back

I'd be still livin' here in this place I'm at

I'd say you're living in a dream

But now I'm here forever

We've got moon light

All night

Lord I pray on the next star I see tonight

We never lose this thing we've found

With you by my side

I can do without the city lights

I fly so high when you're around

That my feet don't touch the ground

Yeah, I'm here forever

We've got moon light

All night

Lord I pray on the next star I see tonight

We never loose this thing we've found

With you by my side

I can do without the city lights

I fly so high when you're around

That my feet don't touch the ground

No my feet dont touch the ground

No my feet dont touch the ground

Five years ago, on April 18th, 2009, Charles and I danced our first dance as husband and wife to that song right there.

Picking our "first dance" was a clear cut choice. When we were dating, before we had said, "I love you", Charles misplaced his phone and asked me to call it. As soon as it started ringing, I noticed he had this song as my ringtone for when I called. I was a smitten kitten. In my head I'm thinking, "he loves me!!!"

In the next year or so that we dated, I never brought it up to him until he asked what song we should dance to. He of course didn't remember that moment but I always saved that memory in my heart. I'm so glad I did.

Our wedding was probably the most fun day I've ever had in my life. When we (I) started planning it, I knew I wanted it to be a giant party with our friends. No super fancy silverware and china. Plasticwear all the way. Bring you kids. Bring your neighbor. Just come to have FUN.

After our beautiful ceremony at the church, FUN is exactly what we did. We laughed. We ate. We drank. We danced. All with 400 of our very best friends and family.

Someone had given me the best advice I could have received. They said, "at your reception, stop talking and visiting with people for 10 seconds, 10 different times throughout the night and just take it all in. Look around. Remember the people you see. Remember what your decorations looked like. Watch your husband. See him smile across the room. Just be. Just remember." I took that advice and I'm SO glad I did that. While everything happened so fast and yes a lot of it was a blur, I remember so much about it. I remember having the best time of my life. I remember Charles laughing and visiting with everyone. I remember dancing with my dad. I remember sweating my ass off from dancing so much. I remember twirling in my dress and all the little girls watching me like I was a princess. I remember one of the best days of my life.

Once we left the reception, we decided we were hungry. What would it be? Denny's or gas station junk food? We decided on gas station junk food so we could get home and relax. We absolutely rolled right up to the closest gas station, walked in wearing our wedding gear and bought us some chips and soda. I love that we did that.

I hadn't packed for the honeymoon yet because we still had a whole day before we were to leave. As I'm in my closet, Charles hears me being frustrated about something. He comes in there and asks whats wrong. I proceed to tell him that I wanna take 5 or 6 different pair of shoes with me but I knew they wouldn't all fit in my 1 suitcase. He said, "then why don't you pack 2 suitcases?" I said, "well because I won't be able to carry more than 1 and still maneuver through the airport showing my passport and stuff...my mom never lets me pack more than 1 suitcase..." He said, "babe, pack 8 suitcases if you want. You're going with me. I want you to have all the shoes you need."

{Insert falling in love even more, here}

We went to one of those amazing Mexican resorts for the honeymoon where we swore we'd come back for our 5th anniversary. It was beautiful there with unlimited drinks and guac. I ate guac every morning for breakfast. Truth.

They had fancy food there. Some we liked, some we hated. I made Charles eat sushi for the first time and he actually liked it. We really did have the best time.

Charles helped make our wedding week perfect because he was my best friend. We loved each other more than ever that day and now his feet don't touch the ground.
